About Plant Medicine

The word ‘medicine’ translates from Latin as ‘the art or the means of healing’. At re*union we think of plants as providing a full spectrum of transformative healing and therapeutic qualities and our experiences are carefully designed to incorporate plant medicines in a multi-sensory approach in order to explore this potential.

By embracing our techniques and practises, you can experience significant benefits such as upgrading consciousness, reducing self-critical patterns, improving sleep, changing habits, addressing addictions, balancing gut health, boosting energy levels, reducing mood swings, enhancing creativity, lowering anxiety and increasing resilience.

About Psilocybin Mushroom Therapy

There many psychedelic plant medicines but the one we choose to work with is one that occurs naturally across the world and has been used by mankind for millennia – the psilocybin mushroom.

Psilocybin mushrooms have been used for countless generations for the expansion of consciousness. In fact many believe they have been a key tool to explain how consciousness has evolved through time.

Consciousness as we mainly experience it day to day exists in a narrow band of awareness dictated by the way our brain functions on a day to day basis. This makes up our reality. Psilocybin increases neuro-plasticity in the brain, temporarily altering our conscious experience and creating new patterns of awareness. This creates a new experience of reality and opens up many new possibilities for the way we choose to live our lives. The impacts are, for many, liberating and life-changing.

Psilocybin based therapy is at the forefront of the current psychedelic renaissance picking up on the promising research work started in the 1960s. Once again we are making extremely promising breakthroughs in understanding how psychedelic plant medicines can help with addiction, depression, PTSD and other medical conditions.

Recent brain imaging work at Imperial College London suggests that psilocybin functions by relaxing the Default Mode Network, the area of the brain that controls our idea of self or ego. This dissolution of self allows the user to access buried memories that are responsible for unprocessed issues, challenges, traumas, grief, addictions or anxieties. This reaction is so profound and deep that many people talk of longterm symptoms that completely disappear after a single session.

Another key part of the experience is often referred to as a deep connection with a universal consciousness and the natural world. It is not an experience that is easy to describe though many report it as the most profound in their lives. We express it as a reunion of self – a unique coming together of mind, body and spiritual experience that creates a re-integrated sense of being immediately after the psilocybin journey. This reunion then acts as the foundation for instigating lasting change in your life.

This is the basis of how psilocybin mushroom therapy works – the transformational insight is set in motion while the mushroom is taken and then properly integrated after the experience by a coach or therapist. Guided psilocybin coaching is the basis of our approach, as it is important to be clear that we are not medical therapists. We work closely with our guests to support their transformation, providing support, insight and reflection pre, during and, most importantly, post experience.

Other Plant Medicines We Work With

Cacao
Cacao is a natural stimulant and a source of five powerful chemicals – serotonin, tryptophan, tyrosine, theobromine and phenylethylamine – which induce positive feelings of wellbeing, happiness and warmth. We share raw organic cacao as a drink respecting the traditions of this unique plant medicine.

Juices
Juicing is a way of extracting concentrated goodness from fruits and plants. Our house recipes using local seasonal fruits and vegetables are designed to support your retreat experience – providing gentle detox and cleansing qualities. We share our recipes with you so you can continue them at home.

Tonics & Infusions
We use blends of plants, herbs and spices to create a range of tonics and infusions for you to enjoy throughout the day. These all have specific qualities and support particular activities throughout the retreat. We also show you how to make your own.

Teas
We encourage a caffeine detox leading up to and during the retreat and provide a range of natural, organic herbal teas for you to enjoy. If this is too much of a challenge then premium caffeinated coffee and teas are also available.

Essential Oils and Incenses

As part of our multi-sensory approach, we use our own blends of essential oil in the form of gentle water based sprays. These natural aromatic sprays derived from plants such as vetiver, sandalwood, black spruce, cedar, lavender, citrus and frankincense are designed to subtly support your experience – uplifting, refreshing and relaxing.

The use of a spray at the right moment for a participant can have the effect of lightening the experience. Sometimes we use a spray to send them deeper, allowing them to relax more into their experience. As your senses are significantly enhanced due to the psilocybe mushroom, these sprays can have powerful supportive and embodying effects.

Incenses are also used in the same way allowing the aromatic smoke to induce sensory reactions that work in alignment with a particular element of the retreat.

Food and Drink

“Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food”. Hippocrates.

Food and drink nourishes us and allows us to thrive. The wrong food and drink does the opposite. When we focus closely on what we eat, how we eat and how we prepare our food, we experience the significance of how food and drink supports the healthy development of body and mind.

At re*union, food and drink play a very important role as a shared daily ritual, creating a physical and social experience that allows the body and mind to benefit from the effects of plants as medicine. We practice mindful cooking and eating – nurturing our body with what it asks for and needs for optimal performance.

What we eat at each meal and how we eat it has a significant effect on our wellbeing and mood. Our shared group meals feature a delicious organic vegetarian menu designed with nutrition in mind. We make the best use of the wonderful seasonal Mallorcan produce using inventive and original recipes. The shared experience of food is an important part of the daily retreat ritual, through sharing, appreciation and conversation, outdoors whenever possible.

“The experience was totally life changing, and genuinely transformational. Even though I already had a positive outlook on life before, I feel that my perspective has gone from positive, to hyper positive.”

Wayne, Entrepreneur

"I can’t emphasize enough how grateful I am to you for providing this solution. I would recommend this magical journey to anyone who is seeking to improve their life.”

Maria, Hedge Fund Manager

“This experience has done something profound to me and I can highly recommend it to everybody who is interested in looking for answers. Anyone who feels a little bit lost and has the need or desire to grow and evolve.”
